The Statesman:Homoeopathy Cures Cancer
KOLKATA, April 7, 2008
Nearly one-fourth of cancer patients are getting cured by the help of homoeopathic treatment in the city, Dr Pratip Banerji, founder and managing trustee of Prasanta Banerjee Homeopathic Research Foundation (PBHRF) claimed at a Press meet in the city this evening. The PBHRF has developed their own protocol of homoeopathy treatment to cure cancer patients. According to the protocol, the doctors of PBHRF prescribes the same medication for all patients suffering from the same type of cancer.
“Over 23 per cent of the cancer patients visit our clinic get totally cured by using homoeopathy medicines prescribed by the doctors of PBHRF,” Dr Banerji said. He said chemotherapy kills the cancer-affected cells as well as good cells in the patient's body. “But the Banerjee's protocol of homeopathic treatment develops immunity in the patient's body by giving medication instead of killing the cells.”
He said the treatment is preferable to chemotherapy and other expensive methods to cure the disease as the patients only spend Rs 100 per month to get rid of the disease. Dr Prasanta Banerjee, a member of PBHRF predicted that within the next two years homoeopathy treatment would be the most popular and effective method to cure cancer in the entire world.
He further added that MD Anderson Cancer Centre of Texas used the protocol developed by PBHRF to treat their cancer patients. Being interested in the protocol of homoeopathic treatment, Spanish doctors Dr Natalia Eres Charles and Dr Monte Assens Manpel visited PBHRF's clinic in the city to know more about the therapy and had also shown their interest to implement Banerji's protocol in their country. Asuncion Pastor Cuartero, founder of www.ayudacancer.com, a website provides details on cancer, said over 70 cancer patients in Spain have used the protocol to get rid of the disease.

Intelligence link to Vegetarianism
THE British Medical Journal has reported a study done by Southampton University of 8,179 people. Researchers found those who had become vegetarian by the age of 30 had a higher IQ : more than five points higher : than meat-eaters. Men who were vegetarian had an IQ score of 106, compared with 101 for non-vegetarians; while women vegetarians averaged 104, compared with 99 for non-vegetarians. The researchers found linkages of intelligence to health as well, but the jury was still out on whether people who are more intelligent become vegetarian or people who were vegetarian had so much better health, especially in terms of heart disease and obesity : that their brains could develop more. . . “Dr Mukesh Batra, who has made homeopathy a mainstream medicine and runs an empire as large as Ranbaxy’s.”
GP training to include the fringe alternatives
A proposed curriculum for Australia's professional college of GPs includes unproven and unscientific treatments such as homeopathy, energy field therapy and the use of shark cartilage to treat cancer. But the college says alternative medicine is growing in popularity, and doctors should be able to give reliable advice on these therapies. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, responsible for setting standards for training GPs, last week called for help in developing an integrative medicine faculty.
